My question involves police conduct in the State of: New York
Hi all,
I am 18, and a college student in NY. On my way home from school yesterday, I got a call from an NYPD detective who asked for my name, date of birth, address, and instagram handle. He said my college reported a post I made (my account is private), and said I needed to come down. I told him the earliest I would be availible is Monday, so he made an appointment with me to talk.
I asked him what post in particular he was inquiring about (he would not tell me), so I had my friends go through my posts and see if anything would rate a police investigation. They didn't think anything I post would warrant the college reporting my page. He said "I just want to get this report off my desk, I'm not telling you any more, be here on Monday", and said that if I did not show up, he would come and find me.
I have no idea what is going to happen. Why would the police be interested?
I am very scared. I do not know what to do. Am I going to be arrested? Interrogated? I don't know what is going to happen and I need your help. Should I bring a lawyer? Should I even go?
