I was recently served Income Execution Billing Notices from the NYS Assessment Receivables office in Binghamton NY. The notice asks for me to pay a certain amount of money that is owed based on tax issues (garnishment of wages) from an employer who I do not work for anymore (it's been over 2 months and I've since started working elsewhere). How can I legally dispute these charges as I am no longer employed by the company that made an error in tax reporting? The notice says that "I will receive a four-part payment document every four weeks. Return one part of the document with each payment. If the payroll period is other than weekly, excess forms should be discarded. Payment is required for each payroll period. Enter the amount enclosed as well as the Starting and Ending Payroll Period Dates in the areas provided below. Failure to make the required payment will result in default of the income execution and activation of legal enforcement measures."
