My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: NC. For he last several days, I’ve received advertisements from lawyers saying I got a traffic ticket for speeding in Durham and they would be glad to represent me. The problem is I haven’t been in Durham in four years or gotten a speeding ticket since I was 17. I’m now 32. So, I called the Durham PD, court, and District attorney’s office to find out what was going on. The police said they didn’t have a ticket in their system. The court said they had the ticket and said my name, adress, DL # and social security # was on the ticket. The District attorney’s office said the same, but the license plate # was not mine. Nobody would help me further and would not connect me to the officer who issued the ticket. What am I to do now. Is my only option to wait until the court date and then try to convince the judge it wasn’t me? Could this be an input error of the officer? How else does this kind of mistake occur?
