My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California.

I posted here a while back in regard to a ticket I received http://ift.tt/2qVVklJ.
Long story short, I went to traffic court (for my first time), plead not guilty, lost, and was unaware I was eligible for Traffic School until several days after court. I received a ticket in February of 2016 and completed Traffic School for said ticket on March 1, 2016. Going into court for the ticket I received in September of 2017, I didn't realize my prior ticket and traffic school from 2016 was just outside of 18 months, making me eligible to attend traffic school if I had asked. Again, this was my first time in court so I wasn't sure exactly how things typically transpire.
Fast forward, I was found guilty and did not ask for traffic school (based on the above). I originally wanted to appeal the case but seeing as how that would be a ton of extra more money, only to know I have a slight chance of winning I've decided to just take the hit. The trial was basically he said (cop) vs she said and the judge had verbally cut me off several times when trying relay my side. I had pictures but didn't end up using them because of the vibe I got from him.
Today, I called the court asking if I could take traffic school and the clerk told me "Because you plead not guilty and you were found guilty you lost the right to attend traffic school." Additionally, she told me they couldn't do anything further because the case was closed now. She mentioned I could write a letter to the commissioner and send to the court to explain my situation in hopes of them granting me the chance to go to Traffic School. From my understanding based on the following http://ift.tt/2qVVnhp , her statement about pleading not guilty and being found guilty rendering me ineligible for traffic school is incorrect.
I am planning on writing the letter regardless but wanted to know if there is anything else I can do in my particular case. The ticket I received in 2016 was my first ever ticket so I don't have a long standing record of points or anything like that.
