My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California
I received a notice of FTA and driver license hold for a missed court date for fix-it ticket. On Monday January 8, I attended a second court date, appeared, the judge dismissed the FTA, and I paid the fix-it ticket fine. As I paid the clerk I asked if there was any further action I needed to take to clear my DMV driver license hold. I was told that the DMV is notified once the credit card payment clears. The payment went through the same day.
Approximately 10 days later I received a letter from the DMV stating that my license had been suspended as of Monday January 15.
I plan on following the steps with the DMV to reinstate the driver license. I don't care about the re-instatement fee. I'm concerned with my insurance premium being raised.
Do I have any recourse as far as getting the suspension taken off my record? Or is it my fault because none of this would have happened if I hadn't missed my original court date?
I can't find anything (FAQs) at the DMV website to answer this question.
