My question involves business law in the state of: Georgia
I sometimes sell things on eBay, but I have recently encountered a problem with a "buyer". I sold an iPhone (not a new model, but still worth about a hundred bucks). This asshole claims that I shipped him a broken device and has shipped me back this "return" of the broken device (an iPhone that is smashed to bits and utterly worthless). He claims this was what I sold him, but he lied. I sold a phone that was in working condition, and this piece of human waste is claiming that I SCAMMED HIM. The problem is that I'm afraid that this would be very difficult to prove. Is there any possible recourse that I have? Or am I just going to have to deal with having gotten scammed out of a hundred bucks? I did write down the identifying information (IMEI, etc.) about the phone I was selling, but this guy is claiming that the information I provided was false and that I ripped him off when really it is the other way around. He claims that the device I sent him was broken and that the pictures and identifying information was phony. Do they log the identifying information of the device while it is being sent in the mail? Probably not, but I figured that I'd ask. Oh, and with eBay, apparently it isn't your call as to whether or not someone gets a refund. It's on eBay to decide whether or not to give one, and it seems that they tended to favor the word of this "buyer" over mine in giving the "refund" which is likely going to be withdrawn from my account soon!
