Grounds for Eviction: Ending NYC Month to Month Tenancy

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York City
I am a landlord in a precarious situation. I rented to the daughter of my longtime Domestic Partner. She was my security and kept her daughter in line if any problems arose with the tenancy. We have since ended our relationship and now I am asking politely that her daughter provide me some personal information (copy of license etc.) until the end of our verbal agreement. She is offended and has refused my request on the basis that we know each other for 10 years. I have a 1 month security and she pays the rent although I am holding rent check for Jan. She is trying to make the rules as I am at a great disadvantage. We both agree that the situation is awkward as her mother and I no longer are in contact. She has stated she will move but I have no guarantee. We have no written agreement and since she will not cooperate with my demands I wonder, should I let it play out peacefully or move in a legal direction? In over 20 years of being a landlord I have never done anything this reckless before.
