Auto Insurance: Uninsured Accident, Not at Fault - What's Next

My question involves insurance law for the state of: New Jersey/Pennsylvania

While visiting family in New Jersey, I was rear ended at a stop sign in New Jersey. The driver that hit me admitted to police the he was 100% at fault. I have a Pennsylvania Drivers License and my vehicle is registered also in Pennsylvania. I called progressive and found out that my policy was canceled 3 days ago due to my bank not paying the automatic payment due to not sufficient funds. The police officer at the scene took down my DL, registration, and insurance card but find out the insurance was canceled.

My vehicle has substantial damages and injuries were involved. What's next? Can I submit a claim on the other driver's insurance to get my car fixed? Or am I looking at a straight denied claim with a badly damaged car? What option do I have?
