My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: California
A $2k laptop after a year of time, and about 100 hours of total use, so very light use, that we purchased from an Electronic store was resold to a friend of a co-worker for $1k. Prior to selling, he was given the laptop specs, which included a Nvidia GTX graphics card. During the transaction the buyer powered on the laptop on and was satisfied that it worked.
After a period of 2-3 months, My wife and I received a call from another friend of the buyer stating that the graphics card found in the laptop was not the one that was given to the seller originally. He stated that he would tell the buyer to file a police report.
Do we need to worry? Given the length of time the buyer has had the laptop we've not had any contact from him prior, nor have any idea how we would have even swapped the graphic card in the first place. We offered that if there were any problems that he should contact us back, but to the best of our knowledge, the computer was pretty much new and no modifications had been made on our part. We'd assume there's a buyer beware kind of situation here, but would appreciate some reassurance.
