My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Florida
I used to stay in florida but i moved temporarily to New Jersey. In a month's time i am planning to move to canada(need paper title) and basically import my vehicle by land across the border. so i payed off the loan for my Florida registered car approximately two weeks ago. Initially, My title was electronic had a lien holder from kansas, it eventually got released and got updated to my name as the owner. The credit union ( lienholder) had released my title with special instructions saying to send my title to my new address in New jersey and had sent to kansas revenue dept. for further processing where the department will then hopefully send out the paper title to the New Jersey addresses. so i am skeptical if i will receive my original title on time or if it may get lost. so i am planning to go to my local florida DMV to pick the duplicate title ( since Dmv said they dont hold original titles and can give duplicate paper title for 75 $)
so i wanted to know if i get my duplicate title , will it hold true or be a true document or override over the original title which could be in limbo or lost due to an old addresses on file at my local Dmv.
can i use that duplicate title for selling my car in the future to another person?
can i use that duplicate title at the border customs?
what if my original title manages to make it to my new address in New jersey or comes sooner or just in time as i expected, will the duplicate title still override the original title or ?
