My question involves personal property located in the State of: Tennessee
I was wondering what my options were here. In April 2016, I entered a verbal agreement with a relative to purchase a vehicle. We agreed upon $5000 for said vehicle. Every month, I paid a payment of $300 toward the vehicle as agreed, totaling $4200 (for 14 months of payments). Unfortunately, our relationship has since soured and the relative claims that I owe much more than I do (about $1500 more). The only proof I have of payment are bank statements showing a generic cash withdraw, and of course the only agreement on the vehicle was verbal. Also, the vehicle had numerous mechanical problems that I was told they would help me fix, and over the winter last year left the vehicle sitting. Now said relative is claiming I am responsible for the parts and repair of the vehicle as well. I have since purchased another vehicle and have no desire for the vehicle in question and could care less about the money I paid thus far. Am I legally screwed or what? What are my legal options?
