My question involves real estate located in the State of: Owosso, Michigan
PLEASE ! Someone out there help me deal with a Deadbeat, Sibling Owner of a Home on a Deed that is a joint ownership with survivorship rights between two siblings. Someone Please Help ! What can I do ??
This property is owned (joint ownership with survivorship rights) by me and my sister. My sister has had a life of a shady past and huge legal troubles. I just discovered that a home that was deeded to us both by my late father, (free and clear at the time), now has a massive $250,000.00 Judgment lien placed in her name that is now on file at the Register of deeds office where the home deed is on file. (The home is worth 135,000. She has absolutely no intention of paying off the lien against her. She will not sign over the deed to me so that I can pay the plaintiff off on the lien just to get the home out of the lien. The courts are after her for failure to pay on the lien and she stays in hiding and no one can find her. The courts want to call her back to court for contempt of court because she refuses to pay anything towards the lien to get it off the home over the last 5 years. She remains in hiding and refuses to pay anything towards taxes, insurance and so on. She also works only part time under the table jobs just to avoid having her wages being garnished. She also refuses to work any full time jobs because she doesnt want to be tracked by the courts. Im now living at the home and paying everything just to keep the home from being run down or seized by the city. But I cant do a thing to the home because the sister has this massive lien on it. I cant borrow against it to fix it up,.. I cant sell it due to the lien,.. I cant do anything !!! HELP !
