Sales Agreements: 12 Days Later Loan Still Not Aprroved

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Hawaii

Hi All,

We went to a dealership and purchased a car 12 days ago. Signed all the paperwork at a set APR and they agreed to ship the car to us.

After a week, had not heard from dealership so we started to call. Finally got hold of someone 11 days later and they said they would be in touch. After the 12th day of purchase, we finally talked to the owner of the dealership. At this time, we did not know if the loan went through and did not have the car.

The owner said he could not get us the loan we agreed upon purchase. To get the loan to go though, we would have to put more money down, and alter the length of the loan terms.

I've never had anything like this happen before. What the heck! They should have been calling us daily telling us what's going on.

At this point I don't want to put down the extra $2000 and change the terms of the loan.

What are my rights? Can I refuse the new loan? Is this legal? Do I have to fly back to sign the new contract?

Thanks so much for your help! :)
