My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: CT
I am sitting here 2 years in and this process is still lingering with no end in sight.
All tax forms & filings required were sent to the State tax department last summer. Nothing complicated or unusual: Cash holdings and one primary residence. No debts.
The final accounting and distribution are on hold apparently until we get the 'clear' from the Tax Dept. When we called the tax department we were told (in an unfriendly tone) that they are very backed up.
Is this normal to have the estate held up so long by the State tax department? Do they have any obligation to process filings in a time-frame so we can move on and get our inheritance?
Is there anything we can do?
Thank you for your input.
