My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Arizona
According to Arizona child support services, I am owed $30,000 for child support arrears.
I have 3 children and they are almost 30 years old. Never married. He has never helped with the children. The children can vouch for this. He is constantly bothering me about signing off his arrears. However, I will not.
The children did receive VA benefits and VA benefits while they were in college. In their early years they did receive a couple months of Social Security. I believe the Social Security benefits have been applied to the arrears in the past to his arrears owed
The father has been awarded Social Security disability with back pay for past 4 years
He was expecting a large some of money. They only sent him $6000 and paid his lawyer.
He called me angry and told me that I will be getting his Social Security arrears, a check for $25,000 in the mail. He states that this is his money and he does not owe me anything. I am to give it to him.
He states that I committed welfare fraud and he does not owe me any arrears. So he told the child support office that he does not owe me $30,000 and I believe they're holding the funds that I guess I am suppose to receive so they can investigate.
The child support office wants me to supply them with a copy of the VA benefits and Social Security benefits that the children received many years ago.
I never committed welfare fraud. If he disagreed with the amount he owes why did he not find it sooner?? Like, 10 years ago. I never asked for any money or even pursued his past child support Monies owed. I just will not Sign-Off arrears. He is a terrible father.
So apparently, the child support office is holding the funds and states that it will be a while before I get them.
Do you think I should hirer a lawyer.
