My question involves police conduct in the State of: Dallas, Texas
I was involved in an altercation where a lady was attempting to cut in line in front of me on private property. I blocked her path and a second customer in line behind me got involved by inserting herself into the situation...verbally. After I successfully prevented the line-cutter for about four minutes, I made my way to the ticket booth. After purchasing my ticket, I turned around and the lady behind me that was NOT trying to cut, but had inserted herself into my altercation walks straight toward me and shoulder checks me in the chest. Now I am 6'-3" and 240 lbs so it was like a flea bouncing off of me as I used my forearm to defend myself, to which she stumbled about four feet sideways. Her pathetic little boyfriend wanted nothing to do with me, so he continued walking.
Now, the first lady(line-cutter) called the police and while talking with them I stated that I was assaulted by another woman who shoulder checked me in the chest. I stated that I would like to file a report as well against that person. The police officer stated that he refused to take that report. I told him that he must take my police report to which he responded, "Are you an attorney?" I stated that I was a citizen and therefore he must take the report.
Now, I have been researching this for a couple hours and I am NOT AT ALL INTERESTED in talking about an INVESTIGATION! I simply want to know if a police officer can refuse to take a REPORT, and if he can, what warrants his discernment about which reports to take and which not to take? Penal code #xx.xx.xxx.xx is really what type of reference for which I am looking such that I can throw that in the cops face the next time I am asked if I am an attorney.
