My question involves insurance law for the state of: NY, NH
My vehicle: Mitusbishi Lancer 2002 (automatic Transmission)
Story: I was hit in rear end. (Jeep hit toyota, toyota hit me).
Filled Claim to Jeep Driver Insurance Company (New Hampshire). I reside in New York (NY plates). Received Offer for total loss almost $2000 (with salvage price deducted. I still can drive a car, and need to keep it for next 2 months).
In Appraisal report they listed 3 vehicles from PA and NJ (2 of them with Manual Transmission). Vehicles values from $3000 to $3795 Deducted "Adjustable Comparable Value" $450 from a car value ($3500).
Deducted $725 (for Prior Damage) Although it's about $2500 in Unrelated Prior Damage Report.
I feel scammed.
I made my own research, and found vehicles in my state NY (one dealer 8 miles away from my work place). priced $4000 to $4995
I made them offer of $4000 (with salvage deduction and partly (50%) prior damage deduction).
My offer was declined.
I understand that for $2000 I won't able to buy similar car at dealership, only from personals, and here even e price is much lower, it's no warranty at all, and in most cases you have to invest $500+ in repairs.
What should I do?
(Yes, I want to get new vehicle (leased, financing, etc).. but I want to get right value for that total loss vehicle).
Best Regards!
Nisan
