Speeding Tickets: Writing My First Trial by Declaration for Speeding Ticket

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CALIFORNIA

A few weeks ago I was driving home in the morning from Santa Barbara to San Jose. I was pulled over before king city on NORTH bound highway 101. The officer who pulled me over said he saw me when he was going SOUTH bound highway 101 going 98 miles per hour (it was MAYBE 90, no one was on the freeway, I know still not an excuse) He was really nice, except he still gave me a ticket. He apologized and wrote the ticket for 80mph which was nice of him. My issue is this is my 2nd speeding ticket within the last 18 months so I am NOT eligible to do traffic school. My question is if I do a TDB should I risk pleading not guilty hoping this officer will be nice again and NOT write his part ? especially because I really CANNOT afford another point on my driving record. OR should I play it safe and get the point and only ask for a reduced fine? This was in the county of Monterey.

I know I am guilty but I am just a broke young adult trying to afford life itself and I would really appreciate a break this time. Thanks all
