My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: TX
I would like some advice. How should I plea?
I was driving on a two lane highway with median construction going on. Posted construction speed limit was 65 mph. Ahead I noticed a State Trooper entering the highway on an entrance ramp at mile marker 544. I moved over to the inside left lane to allow the officer and 4 other cars o enter the highway. Once I was there, I was stuck so I increased my speed to 75 mph to pass but the posted speed limit had increased as well so everyone was traveling that speed. After 1 mile, the officer slammed on his breaks moved to the shoulder after I tapped my breaks unsure of what he was doing then passed him, he immediately crossed both lanes of traffic to get behind me. I again slowed and moved to the right lane behind all the traffic. He moved with me and turned on his lights to pull me over at mile marker 542. All of this took place in under 1 minute (55 seconds)
The officer approached my convertible and said to my daughter and myself ........Hello Ladies, I am giving you 2 citations today. 1 for no front license plate, the other for driving in the left lane and ignoring traffic control devices all over the roads in Texas. I stated the first posted Left lane passing ONLY sign was at mile marker 545 and I only moved over to allow him to enter the highway and then I was stuck. He said...."did you seriously just say that to me?" I said, yes its true. Finally, he continued to lean on my car and lecture me and ,my 21 year old daughter stating that he wasn't here to just give out tickets but to educate the public. He laughed at us and mocked us at every question or explanation I finally said..."I don't want to argue with you, my whole family is in law enforcement, just give me the ticket and we will all move on" But that wasn't good enough. He then argued that my car was made with 2 holes in the front bumper for a front plate. It is not and I told him he was welcome to look. Again, laughter. Eventually, he gave me the ticket and let us go.
I have ordered a bracket that must be drilled where there are no predrilled holes so that ticket will be dismissed.
Should I fight the disregard to traffic control devices? Or just pay the ticket? I don't even know how much it is to pay the fine.
