Custody and Visitation Issues: Child Rights

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Colorado

My ex and I are in dispute over whether our 15 year old son (16 in February) should have more control over his education. I have already gone to court asking that he have more say in his education and soon felt that I was in the twilight zone. The magistrate agreed with the ex that she had a valid concern that if he continues going to college he might miss out on meeting his future wife and that a community college is not appropriate for a 15 year old since student who go to a community college are there only because they could not get into a 4 year college. The judge also stated that my son should work at a pizza place so he can be with people his own age and that he will have to get his license at 16 so his mother does not have to drive him to and from school (56 miles round trip in rush hour traffic both ways) Yes, that is exactly what the judge said and I am in the process of appealing the court order from our last hearing.

My son is highly gifted and will have his associates degree by the end of 10th grade. at the rate he is going, he will have his BA by the end of his senior year. Because of the conflict with his education, he has asked to graduate early so he can simply finish college without having to wonder if he will be allowed to continue taking college classes. He is a highly motivated and self directed young man who loves computers and coding. The school district currently pays for his college classes, but the ex is trying to prevent him from continuing taking college classes. For her, socialization is more important than academics. I feel that a balance can be struck, but academics should have more weight. He is a well adjusted young man and does have fun with his friends.

I am not trying to avoid any child support obligations. The amount I pay is not an issue. I already cover all college related expenses as the courts have determined that regardless of his age, his mother is not financially required to help since it is post secondary education.

What rights does a child have in Colorado when the courts won't let them speak in court? If he graduates from high school, he will be in control over his college classes since I will pay the tuition after he graduates. I would rather he stay in high school so the district can at least help with tuition (I pay books and fees) and he can socialize with his friends.
