My question involves real estate located in the State of: California
We got permit for our remodel, and the contractor dag the foundation for the addition. The building inspector came in and decided that we're not in code in regards of setbacks.
We checked, we are. According to our zoning, we are allowed an X side setback, and we are building even less than allowed, meaning we're going to have a larger setback than allowed.
The inspector claims that because our house was annexed to the city, we can not build the addition. ????
We checked, our house was annexed 60 years ago, and is now incorporated and under the "sphere of influence" of the city.
The inspector's supervisor is siding with the inspector.
We feel like in a Kafka's nightmare.
What are our options? We are losing time and money over nothing, as the plans are to code and that's why they have been approved.
