My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Illinois
My petition for removing my children has been denied. I have been the sole provider for my family with no child support help for three years. A few months ago my company closed our offices in Illinois and offered to relocate me to their headquarters out of state. I was terrified of having no income to care for my children. I advised my ex-husband who would not allow me to take my kids even though he lives hours away, still in the same state however, is not involved in their day to day lives. I decided to fight and even with a third party attorney who sided with me the Judge said no. Even though I met all the points he didn't see the direct benefit to the children regarding my move. He said my salary basically stayed the same so he saw no benefit and that was it. No thought was give to the fact that I offered to fly the kids back and forth once a month paid by me. That the only visitation time that would be taken away was one weekend a month. He would have holidays, the full summer. I am planning an appeal because this is a travesty. I need an income to support my family, how could staying in Illinois with no job and still hours away from their father be the better solution? Their father decided to move far away from his children, not pay child support and now he's going to likely get custody. Does this seem wrong to anyone else?
