Property Division: What Happens to Military Retirement Benefits if a Divorced Spouse Remarries

My question involves a marriage in the state of:CA
I was divorced in 1999 and at that time I had a military retirement. The court requires me to pay 50% of my military retirement to my ex spouse under the former spouse protection act. My question is once she remarries does that stop? Or do I have to pay this for the rest of her natural life?

Heirs and Beneficiaries: Confused on HELOC

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Indiana

I am confused. My mother died in 2011. Prior to her passing away, in 2009 or 2010 I will have to check for sure, she quit-claimed her residence to my older sister who is disabled. Legally disabled. The residence had no primary mortgage but did have a $30,000 HELOC thru Quicken Loan that she had had for several years. My older sister then quit-claimed the property to my other sister and I (3 on the deed). That was mom's wish. When mom died, we did not do any estate or probate work as it was an insolvent estate. Our attorney told us that the HELOC loan went with the property and not the tenant and to just send Quicken Loan a copy of the Death Certificate and a letter showing that it was an insolvent estate, and a copy of the quit-claim Deeds. Mom was in a nursing home at the time she passed. She had no property and no assets. Her car had been sold many years before and my sister was living in the former residence so all furniture and such was divided among the 3 sisters as was stated in her Will. I was the Personal Administrator. Everything was spelled out in her Will as who got what.

We have had no problem with QL until December of last year. At that time they refused to speak to us about the account (such as balance, payments, etc.). They said that we had to send them a copy of the Probate that showed the property was passed to us. We do not have this as the property was passed long before mom passed and was not in an estate. We did not probate because it was an insolvent estate. The property is deeded in all 3 of the sisters' names, as are the taxes, and insurance. We are all paying for the taxes, insurance, and QL. I think that QL has farmed the mortgage out to another company but I am trying to verify this. They list the account as the Estate of (Mother's name) but the bill goes to my sister and not the property address. We have been paying this account since 2009 or 2010 and the balance is down to $22,000. They have had no trouble accepting our checks.

What do I need to do to get QL to acknowledge that this property was not in the estate and was/is my sisters and I and to talk to us?

Thanks.

Financial Transactions: Financial Compensation for College Losing Transcripts

My question involves personal finance in the State of: PA

My husband attended a then "tech" college from 1997-1999. He graduated the associate program and started working immediately. Recently, he decided that he wanted to go back to school to obtain a bachelors, then a graduate degree. He contacted his alma mater and they told him they lost his transcripts. We no longer have his copy due to our house being flooded in 2011. My question is, would we be able to win a settlement from his alma mater since he is going to have to retake most of the classes he already took to complete the associate's degree? He is basically starting as a freshman with no college courses under his belt. These "make-up" classes are going to add to the amount we are going to have to pay for his tuition, money that we wouldn't have to pay if his alma mater did not lose his transcripts.

Thank you.

Suspension and Revocation: Driving on Supsended After a DUI Conviction

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Wisconsin

Hi my daughter got and OWI in Wisconsin and got fined 1200 bucks. She is a single mom with NO money and a teenage daughter. She borrowed the money and paid that fine but still owes it to the person who borrowed her the money. She then got pulled over for driving on a suspended license and the cop said she would get a notice in the mail of a mandatory court date. That was months ago and she still has not received it, what if anything should she do? She has absolutely no money and we (her parents) have been helping out as much as we can but we can only do so much. Can someone tell me what's going to happen next? I very worried about her. Any advice would be appreciated.

Civil Rights Restoration: Restoring Firearms Rights With a Significant Juvenile Criminal Record

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Texas
When I was a juvenile I had a total of 4 felonies and 3 misdemeanor, separated into two times. The first the misdemeanors and two felonies, the second two felonies. I got deferred prosecution the first and court - ordered probation the second. These were all assault cases.
I have a few questions: 1.) I'm wondering about sealing/ expunging records, my attorney and PO have talked with me and want me to do this, how does it work.
2.) Have my civil rights been taken away? In the future I may be in a career that works indirectly with firearms, so I would like to know about that.
3.) If I get my record sealed and the job I need needs a background check that like nursing, medical, or even a attorney, will I be able to get that careers certification.

Defamation: Do I Have a Defamation Case

My question involves defamation in the state of: North Carolina

It has been almost two years since my expungement. I ran a check on E verify and not only are they reporting the felony, they are also showing I have a misdemeanor which is not correct.

I had several close calls with potential employers, and wonder if Everify is to blame.

Service and Repair: Shop

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: California. My car was involved in an accident last January. It was taken to an auto body shop for repairs. The car was taken back to that body shop three times with issues of it not being correct. Was sent away all three times stating nothing was wrong with the car. Tired of the problems with the car I took it to Car Max to sell and was informed the frame had damage. I contacted my insurance office right away to find out my rights. My car was taken to another body shop and it in fact does has a damage frame plus other damage that was missed. The first body shop did $9,000 in repairs the car is a 2012 Chevy Malibu LTZ and I owed at that time $11,000 on the car. Now more work is needed to be done and I honestly don't feel comfortable continuing to pay for a car with a damage frame. What rights do I have to ask for the car to be totaled this time?
