My question involves labor and employment law for the state of Texas: I work for a nationally well known retail chain. I am non-exempt employee and I am asked to work overtime during the week. On Friday, when the hours are ready to be submitted, I arrive at work only to be told I must leave "early" in order to not accrue the overtime I was promised I would be paid for by the General Manager of the store. I have worked for this employer for six years and this has become "common" practice, yet it feels illegal. I go the extra mile, come in on days off and work past my scheduled 8 hours, only to have it taken from me. Do I have any rights and is this illegal?
